Fletcher's Fields, the home of rugby in Ontario hosted a successful Junior Rugby Festival this past Saturday with special appearances by members of the Olympic bronze medal winning Women's Rugby Sevens team. We even had Markham Irish Canadian Rugby Club's own Charity Williams who pulled double duty both visiting the MICRC Alumni day and Rugby Ontario Junior Festival.

With over 1,000 players, parents, and fans in attendance, Markham fielded a number of junior teams. Our U-8 players showed the importance of teamwork as they joined and supported various teams throughout the day. Our U-10 team won all their matches playing in full Markham Irish Canadian Rugby Club kit (thanks to all of our sponsors for making this possible). We also had two of our U-8 members, Chenuki and Zach representing our U-10 team as well. It was clear by the end of the day that the real winner was the sport of rugby. It was a great junior festival season and the entire Board of Directors would like to thank the coaches, volunteers, and parents that make the experience fun and exciting for all of our junior athletes. Please enjoy some of the photo's taken by Saliya de Zoysa during the day.
