The MSH Love Box Project (Markham Rugby Club)

The Markham Irish Canadian Rugby Club supports the great work done by the MSH Love Box Project.

The Love Box concept is a grassroots project in which the community is able to touch the lives of children and their families who are facing all different types of health issues. Every child that is admitted into the Children's Health Unit at Markham Stouffville Hospital receives a Love Box that has been put together by a member of our community. Each box is one of a kind and includes an inspirational note to the patient and family.

Age Groups and Gift Ideas

Our boxes are of no cost to supporters. Box Dimensions are 12 1/8 x 9 ¼ x 4".

As for what goes into the box and budget, that was up to each family. Here are some ideas for each age group. Please remember that due to infection control, we ask that all items are NEW and not used. Also, many children in the Children's Health Unit have food allergies. No food items of any kind are allowed. That includes beverages as well.

NICU

Since this unit deals with preemies we asked people to include gifts for the parents to help them lift their spirits. Items like a journal, Tims gift card, a preemie onesie, a black and white book, coffee mug, baby blanket.

How Do I get a Box to Fill?

Last year, boxes were delivered to supporters homes. Now that we have 1,000 boxes, we have decided to do things a bit differently this time. We are going to have a packing party!!

Here's how it will work.

The packing party will be held at the Markham Irish Rugby Club (150 Austin Drive, Markham) on Saturday, December 9th and Sunday, December 10th. 10am to 4pm both days.

Club capacity is max 60 people, so we will have one hour shifts (10-11, 11-12, 12-1, 1-2, 2-3, 3-4).

Please indicate how many boxes you would like to fill, the age group/gender you would like to provide for and the time that works best for you. Please register ASAP as these boxes will go quickly.

The day of the party, bring your gifts to the clubhouse and we will provide you with the boxes. If you would like to decorate the box, please bring materials with you. We will have a limited amount of markers, crayons, stickers, etc.

Once we have collected all of the boxes, we will deliver all the boxes to Markham Stouffville Hospital on Monday, December 11th.
